Most homeowners think that patios are installed for leisure, and on a flat backyard. But after asking our Hardscape Heroes why their clients approached them, we found that many projects were about solving detrimental problems in the client’s yards.
Meet March’s Hardscape Hero winner, Brian Gillespie of Ultimate Hardscapes! If his name rings a bell, it’s because Brian was our October 2014 winner.
So you’ve hired the “right” contractor, approved your project budget, picked a design and decided on your paver products. What now? Well my friend, the time has finally come. Let’s put in that patio.
Congratulations to our February Hardscape Hero winner, Chris Veronie of Tidewater Pavestone!

When our friends at Lickinghole Creek Brewery asked us to come out to sample some of their beers, we hopped in the truck and headed out to the beautiful Goochland, VA farm that serves as their base of operations. But we didn’t show up empty handed. We brought along a fire pit kit and assembled it on their patio.
After looking for ideas in magazines and online, the McQuaids hired a contractor who introduced them to Eagle Bay products. “The pavers looked very natural against the wooded background. The patio seems to blend into the natural landscape versus appearing out of place. There were so many options to choose from – which made the decision difficult – however we ended up with a style that was perfect for us,” beams Mrs. McQuaid.
