Patio Sippin’: Fireside Fall Cocktails

The fire is crackling, you’re wrapped in a comfortable blanket and the kids are asleep. Make the perfect evening even better with one of these fall cocktails. Their flavors draw from the essences of the season to make fall evenings even more relaxing.

Maple Bourbon Old Fashioned

Spice up this classic drink with the flavors of fall.

What You Need:

  • 2 tsp. maple syrup
  • 1 tsp. water
  • 1 dash bitters
  • 1 orange peel
  • 2 oz. bourbon
  • 1 maraschino cherry for garnish

What to Do:

  1. Combine the maple syrup, water, and bitters in a glass, stirring until well blended. Add a few blocks of ice and the orange peel, then pour bourbon on top.
  2. Garnish with a cherry and serve. 

Apple & Pumpkin Beer Cocktail

This hybrid fall drink mixes the flavors of an apple pie with the bite of bourbon and the seasonal smoothness of pumpkin beer. The only thing missing is a flannel shirt and an axe to chop some firewood.

What You Need:

  • 8 oz. good-quality bourbon
  • 9 oz. apple cider
  • 2½ oz. lemon juice
  • 12 oz. pumpkin ale
  • ice
  • cinnamon sticks and cranberries for garnish

What to Do:

  1. In a cocktail shaker, shake together the bourbon, apple cider, and lemon juice. Pour into four glasses filled with ice.
  2. Pour the beer evenly into each glass.
  3. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and cranberries. Serve immediately and enjoy!

The Rustic Manhattan

Another twist on a classic cocktail! The Manhattan is already considered a fall drink, and this recipe takes this classic cocktail to the next level, adding elements of warming whiskey and sweet apples.

What You Need:

  • 2 oz. Leopold Bros. New York Apple Whiskey
  • ½ oz. Uncouth Vermouth  Wild Raspberry
  • 2 dashes  Fee Brothers Whiskey Barrel-Aged Bitters
  • Maraschino cherry and apple slices for garnish

What to Do:

  1. Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice.
  2. Stir well.
  3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  4. Garnish with a fan of apple slices and a maraschino cherry.

Hunter’s Cocktail

This lowball cocktail is perfect for warming your bones after a day of raking leaves.

What You Need:

  • 1½ oz. whiskey
  • ½ oz. cherry brandy
  • Maraschino cherry for garnish

What to do:

  1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Strain into a chilled old-fashioned glass.

Pumpkin Pie in a Glass

Want a slice of pie without all the calories? Add some booze to the mix and enjoy this festive, flavorful, sweet cocktail.

What You Need:

  • 2 parts Kahlúa Pumpkin Spice
  • 1 part hazelnut liqueur
  • 2½ parts heavy cream
  • 1 part pumpkin puree
  • ¼ tsp. pumpkin pie spice

What to Do:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a martini shaker filled with ice. Shake to combine and then pour into glass. Serves one.
